I can tell you that is has been very frustrating starting this project on facebook, since in a day everything seems to be gone. On the other hand, it's been great for live conversation. Blogs, I think, are more for longer posts. People telling a story. Though it is true, that it takes some work to find past posts and they may get "lost" to readers....
